Prescient Typo: McCain playing "lose" with the facts.

Sam Stein on Huffington Post points out the most glaring weakness in the McCain campaign.  The Republican candidate can't get the facts right, on a daily basis.

But a more worrisome issue for the McCain campaign may just be that a theme is emerging, both within the media and political circles, that the Arizona Republican has a penchant for playing lose with the facts.

I don't know about you, but this just seems to make a November victory for Barack Obama more and more possible with each passing blunder.

Appearing at a press conference in Louisiana on Wednesday, McCain claimed that he had supported "every investigation" into the flawed response to Hurricane Katrina, when, in fact, he had twice voted against creating a commission to inspect the tragedy.

Isn't that the kind of stuff that dooms a candidate? Whether it is blatant manipulation of the facts, or convenient memory loss, or involuntary breakdown of mental faculties, people pay attention to specifics when they are weighing their vote.

That trip-up, however, was mild in compared to the gaffe that happened earlier in the day, when McCain acknowledged he was not aware that Obama had introduced a bill that called for international divestment from Iran.

Reporter: Are you familiar with his disinvestment bill?

McCain: No, I am not familiar with it at all. I do not know if it passed the senate or had any hearing or anything else. I had, so, literally thousands and thousands pieces of legislation are proposed every year.

How can anyone support someone who says that?  He is "not familiar with it at all"?  Sheesh, I thought foreign policy was his strong suit.  Now we find out he has no clue about an important bill about Iran?

He is definitely playing "lose" with the facts.
